Mimesis
by Katherine Kim
There is an Orient in my body
A floating head with my eyes,
helix aspersa
tracking slime across her face
She will incubate her strength
Press her mouth against my throat:
I seek the river beneath the river,
bearing two tongues two minds to shed
an inheritance of crimes
where my ancestors marked their graves
dawned their offspring bloomed their homes
